文亀2年創業。

Hirado. An island in the north of Nagasaki prefecture, that has always been connected with overseas countries. It was here that many foreign products and cultures were introduced to Japan. Tsutaya was founded in this intercultural town in 1502 and soon became a supplier of sweets to the rulers of the Hirado domain; the ancient House of Matsura. The name of our ancestor Zensaku Tsutaya as well as our signature sweet Casdoce can still be found in the “Book of 100 Sweets”, an exquisite scroll created by lord Matsura over 150 years ago. We pride ourselves that until this day we supply sweets to the Chinshin style of tea ceremony that was founded by the Matsura family in the 17th century. Please enjoy the original taste of our traditional Hirado sweets that we have carefully handed down over the past five centuries.
